P4P has been specifically designed to focus on getting players developed and prepared for turning professional. Challa Law Group has extensive experience working with coaches and athletes who travel to the U.S. for short and long-term competitions. We have compiled some additional resources especially for Prep4Pro athletes below.
Athletes and coaches often travel to the U.S. to compete in special sporting events or participate in leagues to improve their skills and gain exposure to other top competitors. Professional athletes and support personnel must follow all applicable immigration regulations not only when traveling for short-term competitions, but also when playing or coaching professionally for U.S. organizations. Some of these categories allow for “dual intent” or the acknowledgement by USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services) that an individual may intend to depart at the end of his or her temporary stay, but also may simultaneously pursue a permanent residence status.

What is the best option for me?
There are costs and benefits to each visa option, so it is important to consider the difficulty in obtaining each visa type based on your qualifications and adjudication trends, as well as the type of event and length of stay. An immigration attorney can guide you through these options and suggest the best pathway to competing in the United States.
Next Steps:
- Still unsure of your best options? Schedule a consultation with an attorney.
- Ready to travel? Request a case initiation.
- Decided on a visa type with your attorney? Download a checklist and start gathering your documentation.
